My Hair Progress April - June, 2008

This album will contain all the progress for the second quarter of this year. Included in this album are pics of my second henna treatment and my 21 and a half weeks relaxer stretch. I'm very proud of myself for having gone this long without a relaxer but from this point on, I will relax every 10 - 12 weeks. I started texlaxing my hair in December of 2007 and I was loving it because it made my hair appear a little thicker than it really is, but I couldn't deal with the 2/3 textures anymore. I'm happy with my progress so far.

It is beautifully textured. The downside of relaxing/texlaxing is that the new growth will always seem puffy and too thick in comparison. It's how I felt about my NG when I texlaxed. Not until I went totally natural did I realize -- I don't have thick hair :-D

Lol, I know right...I may decide to transition completely sometime wayyyy later, but for now, texlaxed it is, lol.

Thanks Your Cheeziness. Stretching is great but tough! I don't think I'll ever stretch my relaxer this long again. It was just too hard without my braids.

Your hair looks so shiny and healthy! I love that it's so dark that it almost looks blue. I have never seen someone do their own relaxer, and their hair looked this healthy.

    5 months stretch cont'd
    how do u stretch?
    **************************
It depends on whether or not you can stretch your relaxer. Not everyone can stretch their relaxer successfully. For example, if you normally relax every 6 weeks, the way to properly stretch the relaxer is to relax at 7 weeks the next you time you relax and then 8 weeks the next time and so on and so on. Relaxer Stretching involves giving the hair enough time between relaxers to avoid over-processing the hair. HTH.

NIce new growth shot:)...I have yet to see someone with my new growth texture...My new growth is tight coiled curls......Whenever I'm stretching..If I don't gently comb through them daily...It gets tangled and almost form into dredlocks!...

Yeah it does grow in real pretty, but it's still hard to manage and maybe becasue I like my hair straight.

hey well being a newbie....wat is mega tek exactly, what it does and where to get it!! also wat is texlax?? such a newbie!!Lol
    ******************
Mega Tek is a treatment formulated for humans but used on horses that greatly strengthens the hair because of the proteins in it. I have all the answers to your questions here in my Mega Tek file. Texlax is relaxing the hair without going the full length of the time of the relaxer or adding oils to your relaxer before applying it to your hair. This method takes out just a little of the tight curls of your natural hair. In other words it is not bone straight but the hair is left with some curls still in it. It also makes fine hair looks a lot thicker too.

In my opinion, someone whose hair is relaxed has to transition or do a big chop (BC) to get awesome texlaxed results.
