Starting all over again!

Well I finally did the Big Chop. About a year ago, I wrote a blog on LHCF that I will be big chopping my hair pretty soon and I finally did it. I cannot believe I didn't do it until a whole year later tough, lol.

My stylist was playing cute with it saying that she doesn't think I should take it all off yet, but I insisted that she did. Well after she blew it out, and trimmed it, she braided it back up in four braids and slapped my wig back on because I had to get back to work and didn't have time to fix it up any better than that.

Well I got home and unravelled the plaits and was about to gel it up to wear as a cute little 'fro for work tomorrow and low and behold, the whole top of my head were straight strands of hair sticking up. Guess what I did? You guessed right, I got my pair of scissors and began taking the rest of the straight ends all off.

I am now wearing it twisted until tomorrow morning but I am not so sure yet how I will wear it. I may wear it in a twist-out or I may slap my wig right back on my head. I'll just have to see in the morning. Well I am fully natural right now but don't get too excited because I will be texlaxing it again either in October this year or in January 2011 as originally planned.

I'm just happy I got to see what my natural hair really looks like again. I actually like it. I only decided to make a blog of it as a reminder to myself when I actually chopped off my relaxed ends.

The pics you see here are an unravelling of my hair, dampened and a little Fantascia IC gel on the ends. I do like how it looks so I might wear this look for a while.

This album will contain all the progress for the second quarter of this year. Included in this album are pics of my second henna treatment and my 21 and a half weeks relaxer stretch. I'm very proud of myself for having gone this long without a relaxer but from this point on, I will relax every 10 - 12 weeks. I started texlaxing my hair in December of 2007 and I was loving it because it made my hair appear a little thicker than it really is, but I couldn't deal with the 2/3 textures anymore. I'm happy with my progress so far.

This is my first time really serious about my hair care and growth. I now wash and condition my hair a lot more frequently and as a result, it's growing faster and healthier than ever before.

My hair growth journey began officially in October, 2007. I decided to take charge of my own hair growth and not leave it totally in the hands of my stylist. I will continue to use her but not quite so often anymore. I am having so much fun taking care of my own hair. I will watch, update and post up my hair's progress quarterly. I need to keep track of the length and the thickness. I need healthy thickness more than anything right now though and that will be my main focus, hence adding henna and ayurveda to my regimen. My ends are a little thin here and I will be trimming them off slowly until I get them where and how I want them to look, ie, thick and healthy and long.
