Lots of people think they are simply cute little pigs. Cute maybe, but they are not pigs and they can be really aggressive, especially when you come up on them in the bush!
That's funny! Yes, the little buggers can scoot. I have a better shot of one (my best ever, I think) at the end of the same album. Happened to get it in my backyard!
Some day I hope to get some rattlesnake photos. I did get some fine gopher snake photos where it tried to convince me it was a rattler without success. I have seen one rattler and one Gila Monster but guess what - no camera. Jim
Jim: These little buggers are harder to find than one might think. I haven't seen many of them in a lifetime of prowling around the southwest deserts. And I still had trouble getting close to this guy when I found him in the hills around Anthem, AZ.
Ah, yes! The roadrunner icon is all over the place, obviously in cartoons and birdbaths! :) By the way, there is another (more recent) roadrunner pic at the end of this album. Hope you like it as well.
Lori: Roadrunners are icons of the southwest, as you know. This one was really booking along on the wall when I took the shot. You might want to see a new one I took a week or so ago. He was just creeping along in my backyard. I think I hit the bird, the sun, and the shadows just right. Filed it in this album as pic #13. Hope you like it. Thanks again for the kind comments! Ivan
